Great place for a family beach day. You don't need to bring much and the water is awesome for young ones. Very shallow for a long way out. There is plenty of very cheap parking if you go across the street, don't bother with the central lot unless the others are full. The only issue is the overbearing police presence. I understand there have been some issues in the past with violence and rowdy drunks, but this does not warrant an officer walking over me in the sand every five minutes! They really should stay on the street and try to use some discretion. The beach is for families and revelers to enjoy.
Great beach. Get there early to get good parking and a good spot on the beach. Lots to do for the kids:there's a bouncy castle and other little rides. Live bands are common for Saturday during the day and police do patrol often to provide added safety. Beach area 1 is the biggest and where you will find the most to do with shops, food shacks and entertainment.
If you have a dog, then this is the beach for you. Beach area 3 has a section for people that has dogs. The dogs must be on the leash at all times and you have to be in between 2 posts. It can get packed pretty quickly. The people are a little odd and more willing to fight, over things that should not matter. So just make sure that your dog is well behaved. Otherwise, this section is pretty clean, water is shallow for the little kids, sand is everywhere. Not enough pinic tables but it is pretty good and will go again.
Canada Day 2018. Absolutely stunning beautiful place. Unbelievably busy but what do you expect on a 40+ degree weather on a long weekend. Many beach areas, ( 6 I think) some areas just sand sun and water Beach area 1 is packed with all the Beach things you may want / need literally steps away from beach. Beachwear, Food/Drink/ Music and of your really having a good time even a tattoo area. Beach shop staff are young energetic friendly and very helpful. Sand is clean, seemed to be a lot of security / police presence as was so crowded. Water is clear and you can walk out for quite a ways before it gets deep which is what a non confident ( not very good) swimmer like myself likes and feels safe in. Lots of area to picnic , BBQ and just have a great time. I didnt stay overnight but by the looks of things Lots of rooms, cottages and places to stay. Will be back again for sure.
Clear water beach with great sand, not rocky. One of the few beaches in Ontario that I am comfortable not wearing water shoes in the water. Stays shallow for a good distance so was perfect for my 2 1/2 year old. Very large beach and probably one of Canada's most popular beaches so if you are looking for seclusion this is not the place. Surrounded by a beach town so all the amenities are close.
